CLAS Media Services provides assistance to all faculty and staff in departments and programs within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and they could help teachers with materials for the classes they teach. The office provides digital photography services, and the following scanning services:

  • Graphics (for use in Blackboard, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • OCR (editable text)
  • PDF files
  • Slide scanning

EGARC promotes the learning and teaching of languages, cultures, and humanities at the University of Kansas through the use of technology and other instructional media. They offer extensive collections of audio, video, and software materials, as well as multimedia equipment. They provide training in the application of new instructional technologies and support projects focusing on languages, cultures, multimedia, the internet, and the role of technology in the classroom.

Instructors may check out the following items free of charge:

  • Mobile Multimedia Carts (each contains a laptop, a VCR, a DVD player, and an LSD projector). These carts are only available for use in Wescoe
  • Laptop Computers. Instructors may check these out for short periods only. Reservations should be made well in advance to insure that all required software is installed
  • Televisions/VCRs/DVD Players. Reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance. These items may only be used in Wescoe
  • Digital Voice Recorders
  • Digital Cameras

EGARC Computer Laboratory, 4068 and 4074 Wescoe:

The EGARC Computer Lab contains 24 PCs and 3 iMacs. The instructor’s station at the front of the room has its own PC, which is connected to an LCD computer projector that allows the instructor’s computer screen to be displayed to the entire class. Although this room is primarily left open for student use, it can be reserved for individual class sessions when the students will be working on computer-based projects. Reservations may be made on a first come/first served basis in 4070 Wescoe. An additional room, 4068 Wescoe, may also be reserved. Instructors may also reserve computer labs at http://technology.ku.edu/services/computer-labs.
